Nationals P Sean Doolittle in honor of Pride Month "unveiled on Twitter special rainbow cleats to show his support." In DC, Michelle Martinelli noted the shoes are "mostly red with multiple rainbow stripes across the front." Eventually, Doolittle will "auction the shoes off to benefit SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders), an organization that specifically supports LGBTQ youth" (NBCSPORTSWASHINGTON.com, 6/3).

PROTECTING THE HOUSE: In Pittsburgh, Frank Carnevale noted Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is "jumping on Team Heinz in the ketchup controversy at Kennywood Park." The local theme park "recently switched from Heinz to Hunt’s." But Smith-Schuster on Saturday was photographed on site "with a Heinz Ketchup bottle." Pittsburgh resident Chuck Fallert said that Smith-Schuster "walked up to people in the Potato Patch area and asked who would like some real ketchup with your fries as he was holding a bottle of Heinz" (TRIBLIVE.com, 6/2).

WAIT A N.Y. MINUTE: A N.Y. POST editorial states Tom Brady's attempt to trademark the nickname "Tom Terrific" is "just pathetically vain, and low." Brady "has to know that 'Tom Terrific' is taken" by Baseball HOFer Tom Seaver. The editorial: "And for what? To use the nickname on merchandise: trading cards, posters, clothing. As if he needed more money" (N.Y. POST, 6/4).
