Pro Football HOF's Push To Host Bears' Regular-Season Game Denied

The Pro Football HOF has been "pushing hard for a regular-season game" featuring the Bears in Canton on Sept. 17, 2020 -- the 100th anniversary of the formation of the league, according to Peter King of NBCSPORTS.com. However, sources said that game is "not happening." For the Bears to be "playing in front of 25,000 in Canton instead of 61,500 at Soldier Field is going to kill the gate for the game," and the Bears "don't want to lose a home game and don't want to get on an airplane to play a 'home game.'" But for a league that "likes pomp, a real game in Canton would have been gold." King: "That's a huge chance missed" (NBCSPORTS.com, 5/27).
