C-USA Adds To Stable Of Media Partners With NFL Network Deal
Conference USA has "reached an agreement" to carry 10 football games on NFL Network, with one game per week airing on Saturday afternoons, according to Ed Miller of the Hampton Roads DAILY PRESS. The four-year agreement "adds to C-USA's stable of media partners, which also includes CBS Sports Network, Stadium, Facebook and ESPN streaming." CBS Sports carried nine regular season games in '18, as well as the conference championship, and "produced three games for Facebook." Stadium broadcast 15 games, seven of which were "available exclusively on Facebook." ESPN 3 and ESPN+ "carried roughly 45" (Hampton Roads DAILY PRESS, 5/21).
ADDING CONTENT: PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Michael David Smith wrote this is a "departure for NFL Network, which has largely eschewed college football, aside from a couple minor bowl games" in '06 and its NFL Draft content. Getting into the live college football business gives NFLN a "different type of programming on fall Saturdays, which are otherwise a slow time for the NFL" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 5/20).
