In Las Vegas, Mark Anderson noted UNLV's apparel contract with Nike expires on May 31, and the school is "looking for" an increase over the previous deal. The current six-year deal "allowed the athletic department to order" up to $1M in company product each year. There was "no cash value other than $15,000 each year to the base contract for the men's basketball coach and bonuses if certain postseason objectives were met." Nike had an "exclusive negotiating window for a new contract" with UNLV that ended April 1 (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 5/12).

JOINING THE RANKS: Gold Medal-winning U.S. gymnast Aly Raisman has "partnered with YORK Athletics to help kick off the company's new 'Worth the Fight' campaign." The campaign "aims to encourage people to fight for their best life, with the help of 16 ambassadors from a variety of professions." Raisman has been an "outspoken advocate for sexual-assault survivors in recent years" (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/14).

TIP OF THE CAP: In Chicago, Patricia McGraw wrote Fox Sports has "done a great job with its 'All Eyes On Us' campaign of commercials" to hype the FIFA Women's World Cup next month in France. McGraw noted her "favorite is the 'David vs. Goliath' spot that dares all the 'Davids' out there to try to take down Goliath" -- the defending World Cup champion USWNT (Chicago DAILY HERALD, 5/11).
