Top Under Armour Decision Makers Optimistic About Growth Potential

Under Armour's Q1 earnings report last week exceeded analysts' expectations, and company President & COO Patrik Frisk said one of the most important things for the UA right now is to "continue to deliver on the plan" that it laid out at its most recent Investor Day, which is a "strategy around winning with our customers." Frisk said the goal is "making sure that we're driving this brand back to the premium position it deserves and also making sure that we're really driving it with sustainable growth, profitable growth." UA Founder, Chair & CEO Kevin Plank said the company has been "thrilled over the last two-and-a-half years (about) the transformation" it has seen when it comes to "getting our operational house in order." He said, “Nobody’s declaring victory. We need to grow in North America but we’re glad we’ve been able to build this global footprint around the world that has this position to re-set ourselves here in North America and think about that next leg of growth.” Plank: "This is year three of a three-year transformation ... But we're really proud of the progress of our team where we are" (“Mad Money,” CNBC, 5/8).

BUILDING BLOCKS: In Baltimore, Meredith Cohn noted UA on Wednesday "officially cut the ribbon" on a new warehouse in the area. The Omni Distribution House can "accommodate a workforce of more than 1,000 in a building the size of 23 football fields." The warehouse is the company’s fourth in the U.S. and second in the region (BALTIMORE SUN, 5/9).
