Bubba Watson Latest Golfer To Endorse Hemp Oil Company

Bubba Watson yesterday "became the highest-profile player" to officially sign with a hemp oil company, announcing an endorsement with cbdMD, according to Joel Beall of GOLF DIGEST. The PGA Tour "issued a warning to its players in early April" that CBD products may contain THC, a chemical that is still prohibited, but nevertheless, a number of players, including Scott Piercy and PGA Tour Champions member Scott McCarron, have "endorsed or invested in CBD-related companies." Watson's multiyear agreement will see him "wear the cbdMD logo on both sides of his headwear at all PGA Tour events, starting at the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black." The deal also "includes a wide range of additional, integrated marketing opportunities to promote the cbdMD brand," whose products contain "no traces of THC" (GOLFDIGEST.com, 5/1). GOLF.com's Pat Ralph noted Robert Garrigus in March was suspended by the PGA Tour for three months for violating the Tour’s anti-doping program by testing positive for marijuana (GOLF.com, 5/1).

TRUE TO THE GAME: The Big3 held its player draft last night, and co-Founder Ice Cube was sporting a team jersey with a sponsor patch from cbdMD. He said the Big3 is the "first league to allow CBD use for our players to deal with pain, and we're happy to have cbdMD as one of our sponsors." Ice Cube called it a "great partnership," noting cbdMD will have its logo patch on every team's jersey ("Big3 2019 Draft," CBSSN, 5/1).
