NBA Regular Season Attendance: 76ers Overtake Bulls For Top Spot

The 76ers overtook the Bulls for the top spot in NBA attendance this year, while the league average was down less than 1%. The 76ers averaged 20,447 fans at Wells Fargo Center for regular-season games, a 0.6% increase from last year, while the Bulls (20,085) saw a 3% drop amid the team's 22-60 record. The Bulls had led the NBA in attendance the last nine seasons. Meanwhile, the Nuggets (18,450) saw the biggest increase of all teams with an 8% bump, as the team finished the season second in the Western Conference. Despite the slight drop in overall attendance, the NBA set the all-time sellout record for a fifth straight season (760 games). The league also achieved 95% capacity at its arenas. Several new or renovated arenas also contributed to lower attendance. With the Bucks opening Fiserv Forum and the Hawks unveiling a massive State Farm Arena renovation, along with several other venue renovations across the league, there were 141,000 total fewer seats available this season alone. This year's attendance total would still rank fourth all time.
