Mark Ein Could Look To Bring Call Of Duty Franchise To DC

OWL Washington Justice Owner Mark Ein said he is "interested" in adding a Call of Duty franchise to his portfolio, according to Mike Hume of the WASHINGTON POST. Activision-Blizzard, which operates the Call of Duty World League (CWL), announced it would "apply the same franchise model it used for teams in its Overwatch League," which debuted last year. That model "calls for franchises to be sold to an owner or ownership group and be based in a home city or region." ESPN reported that the "asking price" for CWL franchise slots is $25M. OWL owners were "previously asked to signal their interest to Activision-Blizzard over purchasing a Call of Duty franchise," and they would then be "granted initial negotiating rights for their home market." There has been "no official announcement of when Call of Duty teams would begin play in their local markets" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 4/3).
