Facility Notes

Eugene-based KMTR-NBC noted despite the "messy snow storm over the winter, construction is on schedule with the Hayward Field renovation project." Univ. of Oregon Media Relations Manager Molly Blancett said, "Construction was put on hold for a couple of days during the snow storm, however, it's not going to change any of the timeline." Blancett said that everything is "still on schedule for the new track and field to make its debut in spring" of '20 (NBC16.com, 3/29).

LATEST & GREATEST: In Birmingham, Lawrence Specker noted the latest feature of Univ. of South Alabama's new football stadium to "bear a major donor name" is the Michelob Ultra Terrace, courtesy of a $1M gift from Budweiser-Busch Distributing. Formerly known simply as the "south terrace," the section is a feature that was "designed into the stadium from the beginning." It features six levels of terraces that "can be used as standing-room viewing areas, or reconfigured as a staging area for concerts" (AL.com, 4/1).

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER: Calumet Colosseum, the world's "oldest still-in-use indoor hockey rink," located in Calumet, Mich., is the winner in the '19 Kraft Hockeyville USA contest. The venue will "receive $150,000 in rink upgrades and get to host an NHL preseason game this fall" (KEWEENAWREPORT.com, 4/1).
