Darrell Waltrip is considering retiring from Fox' broadcast booth following the net's coverage of the '19 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, according to sources. Waltrip ended his HOF racing career in ’00 and has been the face of Fox’ coverage since the net picked up NASCAR media rights in ’01. He currently is part of a three-man booth with Mike Joy and Jeff Gordon. While precise details of his contract are unknown, sources said that he is looking at retiring after Fox hands over the Cup broadcast package to NBC in late June. An announcement on his decision could come in the next couple of weeks. Neither Fox nor Van Colley, Waltrip’s business manager, commented for this article. Fox’ potential replacement for Waltrip is unclear.
