People & Personalities: Brewers' Brian Anderson Adding More Work

In Milwaukee, Kaleb Martinez noted FS Wisconsin's Brian Anderson is entering his 13th season as Brewers play-by-play announcer, but he is also beginning to "make the rounds calling some of the top national events on the sports calendar." Anderson will "call games from multiple sports on a variety of networks during the spring months," including the NCAA Tournament, NBA playoffs and PGA Championship. Anderson said, "It’s the busiest stretch I have" (JSONLINE.com, 3/24).

GOOD TO BE HOME: In Boston, Chad Finn wrote it is "going to be beyond enjoyable to hear Sean McDonough calling the Red Sox games again" this season on WEEI. McDonough, who last called Red Sox games 15 years ago, said, "When they made it this convenient from a schedule standpoint, it was a no-brainer." He "expects to call 30 or 32 games on the Red Sox flagship radio network this season, the final number dependent on whether a responsibility for ESPN pops up that requires him to adjust his schedule." Most of McDonough’s games "will be Red Sox home games." WEEI and parent company Entercom "reached out to McDonough in the fall when Tim Neverett departed after three years in the booth" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/24).

OFF THE FAIRWAY: Fox Sports' Holly Sonders, whom the net originally brought on to help host golf coverage, said of her move off the sport and into a studio host role, "The golf at Fox just didn’t turn out to be what we thought it would be. We hoped we would get more PGA Tour rights, and it just didn’t end up happening. But I wanted to be in the studio and show my personality. It’s what I like to do, make people smile and think and bring the best out of my co-host." Sonders said her "quick wit and being able to play off of other people" sets her apart from other hosts. She added, "I’m also not afraid to have an opinion" (GOLFWEEK.com, 3/21).
