NHL Continues Global Growth With '19-20 Games In Europe

The NHL announced details of its slate of European games as part of the Global Series for the '19-20 season, with the Blackhawks and Flyers opening the season with a game in Prague on Oct. 4 at the O2 Arena. The two teams will also hold their preseason training camps overseas in Germany and Switzerland, respectively, where they will both also play a game against a local team. The Sabres and Lightning will play a pair of games in Stockholm at the Ericsson Globe on Nov. 8 and 9. The NHL Global Series is promoted by Live Nation, alongside official partners Adidas, NOCCO, SAP and Upper Deck. In addition, Replay and Tesla Batteries will be partners for the game in Prague, while Hankook and Expressen will be partners of the Sweden games. This marks the eighth season the NHL has held regular-season contests in Europe, and the third consecutive year. In total, the league has played 25 regular season games in Europe in its history, with Sweden hosting 11 of them thus far. Four games have been previously played in the Czech Republic, all in Prague.
