Facility Notes

In Hartford, Kenneth Gosselin notes the city has "reached a development agreement for the first phase of apartments, retail and parking space around Dunkin' Donuts Park." The Hartford City Council "still must approve the agreement," which calls for a $46M development of 200 mixed-income apartments and 11,000 square feet of retail around the Double-A Eastern League Hartford Yard Goats' ballpark. The development of the area is the "first of four phases of 13 acres around the ballpark that could add 800 apartments, 60,000 square feet of retail space and 2,000 spaces in parking structures" to the area (HARTFORD COURANT, 3/7).

EMPTY SHELL: DC sports bar and grill chain the Greene Turtle will "leave its familiar spot inside Capital One Arena" after it "accepted a lease buyout" to leave the facility with three years remaining on its contract. Monumental Sports & Entertainment plans to "build a 'proprietary business concept' on that side of the building" in the Greene Turtle's space. The restaurant will "operate as usual through April 9, when the Wizards' regular season concludes." The Greene Turtle has been a "fixture at the arena" since '07 (WASHINGTON TIMES, 3/7).

BORING DEVELOPMENT: The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority is spending $1.4B to "expand and renovate 200 acres of conference space." A LVCVA committee is "recommending that Elon Musk's Boring Company build and operate an underground people mover for the project," and proposals "call for an underground loop" that connects the entire Las Vegas Strip, McCarren Int'l Airport, the new Raiders stadium and potentially even a route to Las Vegas (CNBC.com, 3/6).
