Audience Analysis: NFL Combine Nets 790,000 Viewers On ABC

The NFL Scouting Combine came to ABC for the first time this weekend, and the net averaged 790,000 viewers from 1:00-3:00pm ET on Saturday. Like the NFL Draft, coverage also aired on NFL Network in the same window. From 10:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, the league-owned network averaged 363,000 viewers. That was better than 147,000 viewers on Friday and 273,000 viewers on Sunday. Looking at other live football over the weekend, NFL Network aired action from the AAF on Saturday night, drawing 409,000 viewers for Orlando Apollos-Salt Lake Stallions. On Sunday night, NFL Net drew 450,000 viewers for Atlanta Legends-San Diego Fleet. The AAF has only cleared over 500,000 viewers twice through four weeks of games (seven telecasts).

TOUR GUIDE: Golf Channel averaged 141,000 viewers last month on a total-day (24-hour) basis, matching its best February on record (tied with the same month in ’12). The record was fueled by the best February PGA Tour audience in 11 years, as the cable net averaged 682,000 viewers for live rounds. That is the second-best February yet for the net, behind only last year. Tournaments last month included the Waste Management Phoenix Open, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Genesis Open, WGC-Mexico Championship and Puerto Rico Open. Tiger Woods played the Genesis and WGC events.

NOTES: The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series saw its first uptick of ’19 on Sunday. Fox drew 5.1 million viewers for the race from Las Vegas, up 8% from the same race last year.
