Overnight Ratings: NASCAR, WGC-Mexico Down Slightly From '18

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Atlanta led all sports telecasts over the weekend, drawing a 3.0 overnight on Fox. But Sunday afternoon’s telecast was down slightly from a 3.1 last year, which was up against Pyeongchang Games coverage. Two years ago, Fox drew a 3.6 overnight for the Atlanta race.

PLAYING THE LONG GAME: NBC yesterday drew a 2.8 overnight rating for the final round of the WGC-Mexico Championship, which saw Dustin Johnson win by five strokes over Rory McIlroy. Last year, NBC drew a 2.9 rating for the Sunday telecast, which saw Phil Mickelson win in a one-hole playoff with Justin Thomas.

NOTES: ABC last night drew a 20.6 overnight for the Oscars, up 12% from an 18.4 last year, but down from a 21.9 two years ago....It was a tie for top college hoops game of the weekend. ESPN drew a 1.9 overnight for Duke-Syracuse on Saturday, while CBS drew the same yesterday afternoon for Michigan State-Michigan.
