CHARLES BARKLEY made "several investments or loans" with DONALD WATKINS SR. and his various companies totaling $6.15M between '07-'14. GLENN GUTHRIE, a former financial adviser for Barkley, testified Friday in the federal fraud trial for Donald Watkins Sr. and DONALD WATKINS JR. Both men are "charged with seven counts of wire fraud, two counts of bank fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud relating to a conspiracy the government claims lasted for nearly a decade" (AL.com, 2/23).

MUSIC MOVES: Las Vegas musician RICK MAIANI's theme song for "when the Raiders move to Las Vegas" is No. 1 on the city's regional chart of ReverbNation. Maiani said that the Raiders told his agent they are "interested" in using the song. He added, "My guess is they'd use it to sell tickets or in promotion" (REVIEWJOURNAL.com, 2/23). 

THE GOOD STUFF: The Bucks and Make-A-Wish Wisconsin teamed up to make Saturday a "very special day" for 12-year-old EASTON KING, who is living with a degenerative muscular condition. Saturday morning, Easton "attended the Bucks' shootaround." He also signed a "contract to become an honorary member of the team for the day" and was presented with his "own Bucks jersey" (JSONLINE.com, 2/23)....The EPL donated $26,000 to Philadelphia-based nonprofit Starfinder Foundation, which uses soccer as a pathway to education for inner-city kids (PHILLY.com, 2/22).

NAMES: The USGA will honor LEE ELDER with its highest honor, the Bob Jones Award, in a ceremony on June 12, during the week of the U.S. Open. Elder is the first African-American to receive the award (USGA)....JACK NICKLAUS and MARIANO RIVERA will be the featured speakers at the Long Island Association's luncheon April 3 at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y. IN MEMORY: SUSAN DRAGONE, a long-time PR executive for CBS Sports in the '80s and '90s, died Feb. 15 in Atlanta at 62. “This is a woman who was a leader when CBS Sports was greatest in the ‘80s,” emailed LEN DELUCA, who worked with Dragone during that time. Dragone had a PR job with MSG before moving to CBS, where she spent more than 10 years overseeing communications for college and pro football, PGA Tour and NBA. She also handled PR around the '94 Lillehammer Games, made famous by the NANCY KERRIGAN-TONYA HARDING drama. Longtime network PR exec LOU D'ERMILIO tweeted, "Susan was a demanding, but fair boss @CBSSports back in the early '90s. Susan gave me my start in sports TV PR, for which I thank her" (John Ourand, THE DAILY).
