Penn State AD Barbour Gets Raise As Part Of Five-Year Extension

The Penn State BOT's Compensation Committee has "approved a new five-year contract" for AD Sandy Barbour that will include base pay of $1.1-1.3M a year, totaling $6.345M over the five years, according to Geoff Rushton of STATECOLLEGE.com. Barbour's annual compensation will be as follows: $1.169M in '18-19; $1.219M in '19-20; $1.269M in '20-21; $1.319M in '21-22; and $1.369M in '22-23. Barbour also "will be eligible for performance bonuses, with a maximum of $260,000 in any year and a monthly contribution by the university of $20,000 a month in a defined benefit plan." A $100,000 retention bonus from Barbour's previous contract "has been eliminated." She will also take on the title of VP/Intercollegiate Athletics (STATECOLLEGE.com, 2/22).

HORNS A PLENTY: In Austin, Brian Davis cited sources as saying that Texas AD Chris Del Conte "will receive a $200,000 pay raise for his performance over the past year for energizing his department" since coming aboard in December '17. Under the new deal, Del Conte’s base pay for the current athletic year would be $1.54M and ultimately reach $1.7M. The length of the deal "was not extended" (STATESMAN.com, 2/22).
