Don Cherry OK With Hurricanes' Jerk Shirts He Helped Inspire

Sportsnet's Don Cherry finds the Hurricane's new "Bunch of Jerks" T-shirts, which he helped inspire over the weekend, "very funny," according to John Chidley-Hill of the CP. Cherry said, "I don't mind it, if they want to have fun with it." Cherry called the team a "bunch of jerks" on Saturday's edition of "HNIC" for their postgame celebrations. He said that the shirts reminded him of when he criticized then-Canucks RW Pavel Bure on-air in the '90s. Cherry: "He slew footed Cam Neely and I called him a little weasel. And they put towels out with 'Weasel Power' out in Vancouver." However, Cherry "still doesn't see much humour in the Hurricanes' post-win routines" (CP, 2/20).

THE JERKY BOYS: The Hurricanes as of yesterday afternoon had sold more than 4,800 of their “Bunch of Jerks” T-shirts since launching the product on Sunday night. More than half of the sales came during Tuesday's game against the Rangers, the Hurricanes’ first home appearance since debuting the shirt. The T-shirt, which was designed by sports apparel company BreakingT, goes for $32 (Ian Thomas, THE DAILY).
