Nashville's MLS Expansion Franchise Officially Reveals Name, Logo

Nashville SC was revealed as the name for the city's MLS expansion team, which "branding features new colors and a new crest" as it prepares for its inaugural season in '20, according to Luis Torres of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Nashville SC CEO Ian Ayre yesterday "revealed to a boisterous crowd of about 1,500 people the new design for the logo and crest." The team's new crest "features its two official colors, 'Acoustic Blue' and 'Electric Gold,' with the main part of the crest being gold and the blue being superimposed on the rest." Nashville SC is in "blue with the new monogram of the team at the top of the crest." The design of the logo was "based on the sound and vibrations of music." The team will play at Nissan Stadium in '20 before its new stadium is built at the Fairgrounds (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 2/21). PRO SOCCER USA's Julian Cardillo noted the Nashville SC name was "selected with input from the team’s fan base, which wanted to see their city’s MLS entry retain the identity of its predecessor in the USL" (PROSOCCERUSA.com, 2/20). In Nashville, Joe Rexrode in a front-page piece writes under the header, "Nashville SC Has Our Attention, But Can They Own Our Hearts?" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 2/21).
