Kings, Bucks To Host Social Justice Summit Prior To Next Week's Game

The Kings and Bucks are partnering with rapper Big Boi for a day-long social justice summit prior to their game at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center on Feb. 27. The event, which is titled "Team Up for Change," will look at how both Sacramento and Milwaukee have dealt with the aftermath of racially charged police incidents in '18. Sacramento Police shot and killed an unarmed man last March, which sparked Black Lives Matter protests in the city. One protest outside Golden 1 Center delayed the start of a game and shut down fan entrances. Two months earlier, Milwaukee Police arrested and tased Bucks G Sterling Brown during an incident over double parking in handicapped spots at a Walgreens. The conference will feature Kings Owner & Chair Vivek Ranadive, Bucks co-Owner Marc Lasry, NBA Chief Innovation Officer Amy Brooks and Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn. The summit is being sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. Big Boi will be the keynote speaker at the event and will perform at halftime of the game that evening. The event is part of the NBA Voices campaign, which aims to address social justice, promote inclusion and bridge divides in local communities.
