Former Player Launching Phoenix Challenger Tour Tennis Event
Former tennis player Jon Levine is "officially launching the inaugural Arizona Tennis Classic," a Challenger Tour tournament that will run March 11-17 at the Phoenix Country Club, according to Jenna Ortiz of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. The last ATP tournament to be played in the Phoenix area was the "one-time Tempe Challenger" in '17. Scottsdale also previously hosted the Franklin Templeton Classic for 18 years. The Arizona Tennis Classic will be scheduled between the BNP Paribas Open in Palm Springs and the Miami Open, and will "offer the opportunity or higher ranked players exiting Palm Springs to compete in the new tournament." The non-profit tournament will benefit the Phoenix Children's Hospital (AZCENTRAL.com, 2/19).
