A California woman died in August as a "result of being hit in the head by a batted ball at Dodger Stadium," according to an L.A. County coroner's report. The report states the cause of LINDA GOLDBLOOM's Aug. 29 death as "acute intracranial hemorrhage due to history of blunt force trauma." It also states that the injury "occurred when she was struck in the head with a baseball" during Padres-Dodgers on Aug. 25. Goldbloom's daughter JANA BRODY said that she and her family "would not comment on any agreement with the Dodgers or possible legal action," but that she "hopes to have a fund established in her mother's memory to assist victims of such accidents and their families." In MLB's 150-year history, there were "two previous reported instances of fans dying after being struck in the stands by balls that left the field of play" (ESPN.com, 2/4).

PARTY IN THE ATL: After the Patriots won Super Bowl LIII on Sunday night, the team "brought the festivities to the team hotel, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta." Country-rock band OLD DOMINION "kicked things off for the early arrivals -- none of which were players." As more attendees arrived, Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT "took a few minutes to address the masses." THE CHAINSMOKERS played next and "kept the mob energized as Patriots gradually made their way into the celebration." Kraft "later returned to the stage" with SNOOP DOGG, who "performed several tracks" (BOSTONGLOBE.com, 2/4). 

NAMES: LANCE ARMSTRONG last month launched a startup investment fund to finance sports-related companies, and has chosen California-based fitness startup PowerDot as his "first investment." IN MEMORY: IRV BROWN -- a former Final Four referee, Univ. of Colorado baseball coach, ESPN color commentator and sports radio personality -- died Sunday at 83. Brown was a “fixture on talk radio in Denver, working with longtime partner JOE WILLIAMS on shows that spanned four decades.” Brown was in the booth for ESPN’s “first college football telecast, a game between Colorado and Oregon” in '79 (ESPN.com, 2/3).

NBC Olympics’ Molly Solomon, ESPN’s P.K. Subban, the Masters and more
