The news of Idelson's pending retirement is inspiring plenty of tributes on social media. Twins President Dave St. Peter tweeted Idelson is "all class, all the time," and "one of the finest people in our game." USA Today's Bob Nightengale: "Idelson has been the heart and soul of Baseball's Hall of Fame Museum for 25 years, and @HallofFamePrez will be greatly missed in Cooperstown." MLBPA Senior Advisor Jerry Crasnick: "Best wishes to Jeff Idelson in his next chapter. He had a heck of a run in Cooperstown." La Vida Baseball Senior Editor Jose de Jesus Ortiz: "Idelson is a true gentleman and great at his job. He’s has an amazing run at the Hall and in professional sports." Marlins radio broadcaster Glenn Geffner: "Happy for Jeff, who spent a quarter of a century at the Hall, but I’m sad for Baseball. Someone will have enormous shoes to fill." The Athletic's Jayson Stark: "⁦@HallofFamePrez⁩ will be harder to replace than Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer & Chase Utley combined!" (TWITTER.com, 2/5). FORBES' Barry Bloom wrote Idelson's departure is a "huge loss for the Hall and the baseball community in general." He moved into his current position in '08, replacing DALE PETROSKEY (FORBES.com, 2/4).
