Showtime Gives Viewers Behind-The-Scenes Look At NFL 100 Ad

Cameras from Showtime's "Inside the NFL" were behind the scenes for filming of the NFL's commercial celebrating its 100th season, which Showtime's James Brown said was a lot like "playing a football game." Brown: "Just substitute tuxedos for uniforms, storyboards for playbooks and instead of a head coach you have a big-time Hollywood director." Director Peter Berg said working on the commercial with 50 Pro Football HOFers was "pretty much the craziest thing I've ever done." He added, "When I read the script, I couldn't believe it was real. I thought someone was playing a joke on me, that they could get all these players together at one time. I was thrilled to do it." Berg said the ad is "pretty aggressive," and could be "just a little crazier than another director might do." HOFer Brian Urlacher said, "It's been comical watching what they're doing with this commercial. It's funny as heck." However, Brown said the ad is "not all about action and stunts," as it is also about "honoring the legacy of the NFL." Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald: "They wouldn't have you here if they didn't feel like you were a memorable part of the legacy of the National Football League" ("Inside the NFL," Showtime, 1/29).
