Facility Notes

In L.A., David Rosenfeld noted NHL Kings officials and current and former players "unveiled a state-of-the-art off-ice training facility" at the Toyota Sports Center training complex in El Segundo yesterday. The new facility will be open to the public between 2:00-9:00pm daily, and players can "rent space and arrange personal coaching." The facility will be used by Kings players as well as players for the Kings' AHL affiliate Ontario Reign. The facility was built in partnership with the brand HockeyShot, which "sells many of the training devices used there" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 1/28).

CHANGE OF DIRECTION? In Las Vegas, Ron Kantowski noted a report detailing downsizing at ISC's NASCAR tracks "prompted a Twitter response from a race fan indicating" there would be downsizing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A source said that changes were "still being discussed and wouldn't be made" until the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 in September. Seating capacity at LVMS was "significantly reduced last year, leaving around 80,000 permanent seats." LVMS is one of eight NASCAR tracks owned by Speedway Motorsports (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 1/27).

GATEWAY KEEPERS: ESPN.com's Emily Rand noted the League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split Finals will be held in St. Louis Univ.'s Chaifetz Arena on April 13. Riot Games "expects an approximate capacity" of 8,500 for the spring finals after "production and technical setup." St. Louis is "home to one of the first Riot Games offices" outside of its L.A. HQ (ESPN.com, 1/26).
