Fantasy Football Plays Big Role In December ComScore Rankings

Fantasy football in December, particularly with playoffs and championships in many leagues, once again played a significant role in monthly comScore rankings of multiplatform digital reach and consumption, as the top four entities in both metrics have a sizable presence in fantasy football games, content or both. Dedicated fantasy mobile apps from ESPN and Yahoo Sports also both ranked in the top four in overall sports app consumption rankings during the month. ESPN once again led all entities last month with a reach total of 88.77 million uniques and total time spent of 6.46 billion minutes. However, the per-user average consumption time of 74.9 minutes in December for the Yahoo Sports-NBC Sports Network digital alliance narrowly edged ESPN’s 72.7 minutes. The overall U.S. digital sports audience last month of 182.6 million ebbed slightly from 184.6 million in October and November, but was up from 181.2 million in December ’17.
