Golden Knights RW RYAN REAVES is "brewing his own beer," and the "first kegs of Training Day golden ale have been tapped." Reaves, who wears No. 75 for the Golden Knights, "formed 7Five Brewing Company with his longtime friend ADAM COATES," and the pair "partnered with local Able Baker Brewing to create Training Day." The beer has an "alcohol by volume" of 5.75, which is "another reference to Reaves' jersey number" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 12/28).

NAMES: LEBRON JAMES was selected as AP Male Athlete of the Year for the "third time." Red Sox RF MOOKIE BETTS was second, followed by Capitals RW ALEX OVECHKIN, Chiefs QB PATRICK MAHOMES and Triple Crown winner JUSTIFY (AP, 12/27)....The National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form and National Turf Writers & Broadcasters will award Del Mar Thoroughbred Club President & CEO JOE HARPER the Eclipse Award of Merit on Jan. 24 (NTRA)....Brewers PA announcer ROBB EDWARDS, who has been working games since Miller Park opened in '01, will "significantly reduce his schedule" for '19. Brewers Senior VP/Communications & Affiliate Operations TYLER BARNES said Edwards will handle the PA at Miller Park "somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 to 25 games." Barnes said that the Brewers plan to fete Edwards in '19 by "naming the former scoreboard and entertainment control at Miller Park in his honor" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/26).
