Sabres' Jeanneret Expects To Return This Weekend After Health Scare

During the third period of Saturday's game, Jeanneret's voice became low and he ultimately went silentsabres

Sabres announcer Rick Jeanneret is "expected to be back in the booth as scheduled" for Saturday's home game against the Bruins after he was "taken from the press box on a stretcher" during Saturday's Ducks-Sabres game, according to Kaley Lynch of Buffalo-based WIVB-CBS. The Sabres on Sunday announced that Jeanneret was "'resting and doing well' after being hospitalized at Buffalo General Medical Center" (WIVB.com, 12/24). Jeanneret on Sunday said, "I'm OK, I feel pretty good now. ... They ruled out the heart. The ticker is fine." In Buffalo, Alan Pergament noted during the third period of Saturday's game, Jeanneret's voice "became low and he ultimately went silent" on MSG Networks. Analyst Rob Ray and game host Brian Duff "took over the play-by-play duties." The broadcast "didn't address Jeanneret's condition as the game and post-game proceeded, partly because team officials didn't want to violate HIPAA medical privacy laws." Jeanneret said that he "called down to the broadcast truck to get somebody up in the booth ... as soon as he realized he was in trouble" (BUFFALO NEWS, 12/24).
