Frye will add communications and marketing responsibilities to his competition and operations duties

IndyCar President of Competition & Operations JAY FRYE's "responsibilities are expanding," as he will become IndyCar President on Jan. 1, according to the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Current CEO MARK MILES "will remain IndyCar's chief executive." IndyCar Chief of Staff for Competition & Operations MARK SIBLA "will become chief of staff for all IndyCar departments." The moves "come in response to the resignation" of IndyCar CMO C.J. O'DONNELL, "effective at the end of the year" (INDYSTAR.com, 12/17). NBCSPORTS.com's Jerry Bonkowski noted under the new structure, IndyCar VP/Communications CURT CAVIN and a "still-to-be-named replacement for O’Donnell will report directly to Frye." Several promotions at Indianapolis Motor Speedway were also announced, including: Exec Dir of Events JARROD KRISILOFF to VP/Facilities & Events; DAN SKIVER to Dir of Operations; PAT GARLOCK to Assistant Manager of Facilities & Events; and ALEX DAMRON to Senior Dir of Communications for IMS and Hulman Co. Damron will also "oversee corporate communications" (NBCSPORTS.com, 12/17).

Pro Football HOF President & CEO DAVID BAKER has received a five-year extension and will also "take the role" Johnson Controls HOF Village Chair. Baker will oversee the $889M mixed-use development under way around the Canton campus, as well as "continue running" the HOF. He has been with the HOF since '14 (AP, 12/17). Baker has been "commended for his efforts to increase the amount of national programming the Hall offers and to improve the nonprofit's financial situation" (CANTONREP.com, 12/17).

EXECS: Oak View Group will add Chase Center COO STEPHEN COLLINS in July. Collins joined the Warriors in his current role in May '15 and will have the same title with OVG. The $1B Chase Center is set to open in September. Collins in his current job is responsible for design, construction and operational efforts around the new facility. The Warriors plan to hire a GM for the arena who will work with Collins during the transition period (John Lombardo, THE DAILY)....Univ. of New Mexico Senior Associate AD & CFO ROB ROBINSON will leave the department to pursue a career in law. Robinson joined the school's athletics department in January (UNM).

NAMES: Black Enterprise named Mavericks CEO CYNTHIA MARSHALL one of its '19 Legacy Award Honorees (Black Enterprise)....Golf Channel’s LISA CORNWELL “will be inducted” into the Arkansas State Golf Association HOF with the ’19 class in October at the Chenal Country Club in Little Rock (NWAONLINE.com, 12/16)....The ’18 Hollywood Black List, an annual “list of favorite unproduced screenplays based on an industry survey,” included a proposed film to be directed by ZACH BRAYLIN about RICHARD WILLIAMS, father of VENUS and SERENA WILLIAMS (BYERS MARKET, 12/18)....Golfer JEAN CHUA married her LPGA caddie, WESLEY GRISWOLD, last month at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC (N.Y. IN MEMORY: Former L.A. Times and Orange County Register sports columnist JOHN HALL died yesterday at 90. Hall spent 29 years with the L.A. Mirror and L.A. Times in the Times-Mirror organization, serving as the USC and then Angels beat writer (OCREGISTER.com, 12/14).
