Franchise Notes

An official with USL club Sacramento Republic FC said that the team is "confident it can seal the deal" with a move to the MLS in the next round of expansion. Within the next few months and "well before" MLS' decision, the club will "introduce a new investor and investor group to beef up the team's ownership from a financial standpoint." The official said that the team "constantly talks with league representatives and has continued working on the investor question." Unlike other cities "vying for expansion teams, Sacramento has a stadium plan in place already" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/10).

HONOR THE HISTORY: In Boston, Kevin Paul Dupont wrote the Bruins "don't make enough with their grand history," as the team has "yet to found their own Hall of Fame." If the Bruins "founded their Hall today, as they should, as they need to, it also would be after 94 years of doing business." There is a "need for the Bruins to take care of their own house, perhaps even in concert with the Sports Museum, and honor more of their great names with proper Hall enshrinement." For every one of the 11 "sweaters hanging in the rafters" at TD Garden, there is "easily a handful who deserve Hall of Fame recognition" (BOSTON GLOBE, 12/9).
