SEC's Sankey Calls For Changes To OT After Texas A&M-LSU Marathon

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey called on college football leaders to reconsider the overtime rule that last month resulted in a record seven-OT game between Texas A&M and LSU. “They played the equivalent of another half of football,” Sankey said today at the ’18 Learfield Intercollegiate Athletics Forum in N.Y. “If we’re really thinking about the health and well-being of the student athletes, the conversation about ties will come back.” The NCAA’s football rules committee determines overtime rules. Sankey said multiple options could be on the table, ranging from a cap on the number of overtimes to possibly moving the ball back from the 25-yard line.
