Barstool Sports Teams Up With Alex Rodriguez For New Podcast Series

Rodriguez said the new podcast will allow its hosts to have fun and show their personalitiesGETTY IMAGES

Barstool Sports is launching "The Corp," a "seven-part podcast series" co-hosted by Alex Rodriguez and Dan Katz, better known as "Big Cat," according to Daniel Roberts of YAHOO FINANCE. The podcast launches tomorrow, covering "business success and failure," and all seven episodes of will "drop at once." Guests include Kobe Bryant, real estate mogul and CNBC “Shark Tank” personality Barbara Corcoran, WFAN's Mike Francesa, Fanatics Founder & Exec Chair Michael Rubin, Starwood Capital Group Chair & CEO Barry Sternlicht and VaynerMedia CEO & co-Founder Gary Vaynerchuk. Square’s Cash App is the "exclusive presenting sponsor." Katz and Rodriguez began meeting nearly a year ago, and "eventually Barstool Sports CEO Erika Nardini reached out to Rodriguez about a partnership." The decision to "release all seven episodes at once" was in part about Barstool "not detracting too much from 'PMT,' its best-known podcast." For Rodriguez, there is "some risk to this venture," as Barstool is "extremely controversial." Rodriguez said Barstool "has the ear of millennials," and there is a "way of communicating with millennials about sports and business in a way that isn’t so buttoned up." Rodriguez: "For most of my other work, it is buttoned up, whether that’s Fox or ESPN, or CNBC. I think with this, we get to have a little bit of fun and show our personalities" (FINANCE.YAHOO.com, 12/4).
