USF Sees Best Football Attendance Since Move From Big East
USF averaged 38,517 fans at its six home football games this season, marking the school's "largest home crowds" since joining the AAC ahead of the '13 season, according to Joey Knight of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. The attendance number for '18 is an "increase of more than 7,000" from '17. The mark is USF's highest since '12, when it "averaged 44,120 fans for six home games in its final season of Big East play." Additionally, the school "reported a student-attendance increase" of 39% -- to 7,797 -- from '17. Bolstering this year's figure "was an announced Raymond James Stadium crowd" of 57,626 (including student turnout of nearly 11,000) for last Friday's game against then-No. 8 UCF. The '17 home schedule "featured no ranked opponent" (TAMPABAY.com, 11/29).
