The Mavericks and cryptocurrency outfit Lympo have launched the first blockchain fitness app in the U.S., which rewards users with crypto tokens holding real monetary value that can be exchanged for premium products within its own in-app Lympo Shop. Lympo holds the naming rights to the Mavs' practice facility and the team is Lympo’s founding U.S. partner (Lympo). In Dallas, Brad Townsend notes Lithuania-based Lympo on Friday "celebrated its United States launch" from the Mavs' training facility. Lympo Founder Antanas Guoga said of his firm's product, "It's basically frequent-flier points for staying healthy, on your phone." Mavs Owner Mark Cuban said, "I'm obviously a big believer in physical fitness, but I'm always looking for unique technology plays that can create advantages for the users. When I saw that (Lympo was) tokenizing it, I thought that was a unique opportunity. I'm a big fan of using tokens to create a marketing effect." Lympo ambassadors include tennis player Caroline Wozniacki (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/18).
