College Facility Notes: FAU Introduce Paradise Cabanas For Fans

FAU will "offer Paradise Cabanas, tents located on the field beyond the end zone, where fans can watch" football games from ground level at FAU Stadium "beginning next season." The team intends to have "eight cabanas stretching from sideline to sideline in the south end zone, underneath the video board." The cabanas will "accommodate between eight and 12 fans each," and will "sell for $12,500 per season." The tents will "have some form of bar service and fans in the cabana will be able to order from a predetermined menu" (FAUOWLACCESS.com, 11/17).

A YEAR AWAY: Arizona AD Dave Heeke, on the proposed upgrades to the west side of Arizona Stadium, said that the school is "in the midst of analyzing" the project. Heeke: "We've done a number of studies that have produced a number of different options. We need to sit down and really decide what it is what we want to do, what we can manage from a financial standpoint." Heeke added that though the school will "look at some cosmetic enhancements" this summer, officials "don't anticipate any substantial construction happening." Heeke: "That would be at least another year off before we break ground on something like that, at best" (TUCSON.com, 11/17).

NEW HEN HOUSE: One year after the Univ. of Delaware announced a planned $60M "facelift for Delaware Stadium, the project is set to move forward." The school announced that "construction work will soon commence." Of the $60M for upgrades, the school itself was providing $25M, with the athletic department raising the other $35M. Delaware AD Chrissi Rawak and the school have raised $32M, which is "enough to start work, and is certain it'll have the rest." Construction is being handled by Michigan-based Barton Malow, locally-based management company EDiS and architect HOK Sports. Construction of the Whitney Athletic Center training facility is "not expected to be completed" until June '20 (Wilmington NEWS JOURNAL, 11/18).
