Syracuse Sees Football Attendance Boon With Resurgent Season

Syracuse this season has seen an increase of more than 3,000 fans per game at the Carrier DomeGETTY IMAGES

Syracuse's home finale on Friday drew the "largest crowd of the Dino Babers era," as a crowd of 42,797 saw the Orange beat Louisville 54-23 to complete an unbeaten slate at the Carrier Dome, according to Nate Mink of the Syracuse POST-STANDARD. The crowd "pushed SU's average attendance this year to 37,043," the school's "highest season average" since '14. Syracuse football finished the '17 season with an "average home attendance of 33,931." The "increase of more than 3,000 fans per game came in a season in which programs across the country are struggling with attendance drops, largely because of the convenience of watching games on television." Friday's game "drew the most fans that Syracuse has had in the Carrier Dome for a single game since the Orange hosted LSU" in '15. The win also saw Syracuse finish a "perfect 6-0 at home for the first time" since '01 (Syracuse POST-STANDARD, 11/10).
