The UFC held its debut event on Nov. 12, 1993, in Denver's McNichols Sports Arena, and the MMA outlet is returning to the Colorado capital this weekend to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Saturday's UFC Fight Night 139 at Pepsi Center, which will be headlined by Chan Sung Jung-Yair Rodriguez, will feature several fan activations marking the silver anniversary. Fans beginning Friday can attend a meet and greet with MMA legends Matt Hughes, Dan Severn and Art Jimmerson, along with current UFC fighters Dominick Reyes and Anthony Smith. On Saturday, activations outside of Pepsi Center include a 25th Anniversary Walkout Tunnel, which takes fans through the beginning of the UFC to present day. There will be infographics, memorabilia and videos throughout the tunnel, while fans at the end of the exhibit will get to create their own walkout in front of a green screen that can be uploaded to social media. There will also be a Championship Belt activation where fans can interact with the belt and create their own GIF video of their victory pose or shot in the Octagon. The first 7,500 fans entering Pepsi Center on Saturday will receive a rally towel emblazoned with the original Ulti-Man logo, which was prominently used during UFC 1. The logo also will return to the octagon canvas. The twenty-five winners from the "Face of UFC" sweepstakes that began on April 19 will be in attendance for Saturday’s fights. UFC Senior Exec VP & COO Lawrence Epstein said, “Like so many people we’re caught up in the moment, we’re looking forward to the next event. We don’t get these opportunities to reflect and look back. When you’re having a seminal event like this 25th anniversary, back in the city where it all started, it forces you to look back and think about all the incredible things that have been accomplished. How far the sport has come. How far the UFC has come.”
