Chiefs' Mahomes Seeing Jersey Sales Spike In Breakout Season

The Chiefs team store already has had to reorder Mahomes jerseys six times since training campGETTY IMAGES

Merchandise sales for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was "No. 1 for October and is now No. 2 for the season" among NFLers, behind only Bears LB Khalil Mack, according to data from Fanatics cited by Dave Caldwell of FORBES. Mahomes merch was "not among the top 25" in Week 1. His gear "sold in the last weekend of October at five times the rate that it did in the opening weekend of the season." K.C. is the "top market, but his merchandise is also selling well in Dallas and Chicago." According to the Chiefs, Mahomes jerseys are the "top sellers in the team store and are on pace to shatter sales of the previous season's top seller" -- TE Travis Kelce. The Chiefs said that Kelce remains the "second-most popular jersey this season," but it has "sold less than half as much as Mahomes’." The team store has "reordered Mahomes jerseys six times since training camp" (FORBES.com, 10/30). In K.C., Pete Grathoff cites data from Dick’s Sporting Goods showing that Mahomes’ jersey was the "second-most purchased item over the past week behind Mack." Over last 30 days, the Mahomes jersey has "jumped 19 spots to fifth on Dick’s list," trailing only Mack, Eagles QB Carson Wentz, Patriots QB Tom Brady and Giants RB Saquon Barkley (K.C. STAR, 11/2).
