Milwaukee Country Radio Station Being Flipped To ESPN Affiliate

Radio broadcasting company Good Karma Brands said that when it assumes ownership of Milwaukee-based WKTI-FM on Nov. 1, the station "will be known as 94.5 ESPN FM," according to Rich Kirchen of the MILWAUKEE BUSINESS JOURNAL. The station will "feature local sports talk, sports play-by-play and ESPN programming." Good Karma also purchased Milwaukee-based WTMJ-AM. The combination of an ESPN station on the FM dial and WTMJ will give Good Karma Brands a "strong one-two punch in the sports talk radio niche." WTMJ is the "flagship station" for the Packers, Brewers and Bucks, and also "runs sports talk programs." WKTI "flipped to a country-music format" in May '15. Good Karma CEO Craig Karmazin’s existing sports-talk station WAUK-AM carries Marquette basketball and "high profile national ESPN play-by-play broadcasts" including the NCAA Tournament and the World Series. The initial plan for WKTI is that it will "simulcast with WAUK" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/26).
