Ryan Blaney Boosting Popularity With NASCAR-Produced Podcast

Blaney approached NASCAR with the podcast idea in '17 and the first episode debuted that seasonGETTY IMAGES

NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney hosts the "Glass Case Of Emotion" podcast on NASCAR.com, and he has "ridden his unique platform to become a true fan favorite," according to David Wilson of the MIAMI HERALD. Blaney has a "pair of experienced co-hosts" with NASCAR producer Chuck Bush and reporter Kim Coon. They "interview other drivers and athletes, and rarely focus on racing." Blaney said the podcast "opens up personalities." He said, “I want to do that for all the drivers, that’s why we do it, just kind of introduce them. Let people know that they’re people and let them know their personalities. It has been cool, the growth it’s gotten.” Wilson notes Dale Earnhardt Jr. "first suggested" that Blaney consider hosting a podcast, but it "seemed a little absurd to Blaney at first." He wondered why NASCAR would "want him to represent the brand with its first ever company-sanctioned podcast." However, he took the idea to NASCAR before the '17 season and, "less than a month into the season, the first episode debuted." Blaney on Wednesday was working on a "likely topic for his next episode," as he was at the Casino at Dania Beach, "learning to play jai alai as part of a tour through South Florida ahead of the Ford EcoBoost 400 next month in Homestead" (MIAMI HERALD, 10/26).
