Express Expands NBA Deal, Adds Players For New Campaign

Clothing retailer Express has "expanded its multiyear agreement with the NBA," which began last year, and will introduce a "collection of licensed apparel" that will appear in stores and online in November, according to Sharon Edelson of WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY. The line will "start off with men's graphic T's and fleece items before expanding into categories such as blazers, dress pants, dress shirts, ties and underwear" in '19. Express will also "introduce a corresponding women's collection" next year. Express Exec VP & Chief Customer Experience Officer Jim Hilt said, "We'll have 13 teams with a wide assortment of products. For the remaining 17 teams in the league we'll offer items with graphics." Edelson noted a new "marketing and advertising campaign, 'NBA Game Changers,'" which will debut Oct. 16, will feature Pacers G Victor Oladipo, Magic C Mo Bamba, Nuggets G Jamal Murray and Hawks F John Collins and G Trae Young. The campaign will "appear across Express' digital, social media and in-store platforms" as well as the NBA's digital and social media platforms. Express will also "have a presence" at the '19 NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte (WWD.com, 10/8).
