ESPN.com's Wojnarowski & Lowe report the Mavericks are "hiring former professional sports gambler" BOB VOULGARIS as Dir of Quantitative Research & Development. Voulgaris for years "made a living betting on NBA games, successfully wagering based on his research and information." Voulgaris is "known for his deep analytics and expertise on coaching strategy and tendencies of individual referees." Voulgaris created a "popular NBA Twitter following where he regularly dispensed basketball information, opinions and data" (ESPN.com, 10/4).

EXECS: SEC Commissioner GREG SANKEY has "agreed to a contract extension" through '23 (AL.com, 10/4)....NYCFC President JON PATRICOF will leave his position at the end of '18 and join the team's BOD. Patricof's three-year contract with the MLS club expires in December (NYCFC)....Turnkey Search promoted the following: NICOLAS BERNAL to Dir of Marketing & Creative Services; EVAN KASHAN to Dir of Operations & Integration; and REBECCA OLIVER to Dir of Strategic Communications.
