NBA League Pass To Offer Partial-Game Options This Season

NBA League Pass, the league’s live out-of-market game package, will offer a series of partial-game purchase options during the ’18-19 season, an anticipated development as the NBA explores the notion of microtransactions. This year’s game package will offer a $1.99 option to watch a game from the end of the third quarter to its conclusion, a marked reduction from the $6.99 single game option that carries over from last year. League Pass, beginning in December, will offer other reduced-price options to begin watching at the beginning of the second and third quarter of each game. Another offering in development will offer an option to buy 10 minutes of real-time game access. The league last season conducted a test offering of providing access to partial-games in League Pass, and had said further rollouts were likely for the ’18-19 season. ”We’re very interested in this notion of microtransactions,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said last spring. “This is a logical evolution of where we’ve gone (with League Pass). And just like a movie, it may be somewhat spontaneous.” League Pass will carry full-season prices of $199.99 for the traditional package, a premium-level option for $249.99 that removes in-game commercials, a single-team pass for $119.99, and a virtual reality package at $49.99, with monthly options also available. It will be available through NBA.com, the NBA mobile app and Turner’s new B/R Live streaming service.
