This season's "standout NFL rookies" have sparked a 30% "spike in league merchandise sales," according to Lisa Fickensher of the N.Y. POST. That surge "showed up dramatically" in Week 3 when Browns QB Baker Mayfield, Giants RB Saquon Barkley and Bills QB Josh Allen led their teams to wins, boosting sales an "astonishing" 50%. Fanatics co-President Jack Boyle, whose company operates the NFL's e-commerce business, said that there is "great new talent." Mayfield "made his season debut" in the second quarter of the Jets-Browns on "TNF" and he "became the top-selling NFL player in Week 3 after his thrilling performance." Fanatics said that more than 70% of the NFL sales are "happening via mobile devices while fans are watching the game" (N.Y. POST, 9/27). The AKRON BEACON JOURNAL cited Dick's Sporting Goods' most recent Jersey Report as showing that Mayfield had the "10th best-selling NFL jersey in the last week." Mayfield "climbed 20 spots from a week ago." Eagles QB Carson Wentz and Patriots QB Tom Brady were "first and second, respectively." Mayfield now has the "No. 2 best-selling rookie jersey for the season" behind Barkley (OHIO.com, 9/26).
