In Chicago, Phil Rosenthal notes Guaranteed Rate Field will be turned into a "nine-hole par-3 course on Oct. 5-7." Those wanting to participate can "get on a waiting list" with StadiumLinks, at stadiumlinks.com. In recent years, golf setups have been "staged at such MLB and NFL venues as Petco Park, Citi Field, Globe Life Park, SunTrust Park, Levi's Stadium, Raymond James Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium." Globe Life Park and Citi Field are "set for return engagements this fall," with Minute Maid Park and Angel Stadium "also on the schedule" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 9/5).

GIDDY UP! In Louisville, Gentry Estes notes a joint venture between Churchill Downs and Keeneland named WKY Development has "applied for standardbred racing dates in the state of Kentucky" for '19 and '20. The application, if approved by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, "could bring harness races" in '19 to the old Louisville Downs racing venue located at Derby City Gaming in Louisville and in '20 to a proposed $125M facility in Oak Grove, Ky. The project in Oak Grove reportedly will "include a hotel, an outdoor amphitheater, an equestrian center and a historical racing facility" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 9/5).

SPEED THINGS UP: In California, Mirjam Swanson noted lawmakers "approved a bill that could streamline the California Environmental Quality Act review process" for the proposed Clippers arena in Inglewood. The bill would, in part, "require courts to prioritize CEQA-related actions over other civil actions and to expedite judicial review requiring the courts to resolve lawsuits within 270 days." Several state senators said that revisions to the bill "bolstered its environmental protections" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 9/1).
