Georgia Tech AD Talks Issues With Popularity Of New Adidas Gear

Georgia Tech wanted to rollout new Adidas gear as quickly as possible ahead of the new seasonGEORGIA TECH

Georgia Tech AD Todd Stansbury said the school has "had to push" both Fanatics and Adidas on quickly getting new gear for fans because GT's new Adidas deal "really didn’t start until July 1." Stansbury: “We knew that we were being ambitious and ... unfortunately there have been some bumps along the way. Our main thing is that we want to make sure that we take care of all of our fans. We’ve had a lot of one-on-one conversations where our ticket operations people have reached out to those that have indicated they’ve had issues.” Stansbury said while GT "wanted the rollout to be as quick as possible, we’re not in control of the supply chain at retail and so one of the things all of our fans can do is make sure that their favorite retailers know what they want because they will purchase what they can sell.” He said of Adidas and Fanatics, "They’re already designing and preparing for next fall, and so we’ll be in the normal supply chain calendar coming up for next year. This year’s going to be a little bit more of a slower rollout just because they don’t have the normal time. But the great thing is the fact that our jerseys sold out in like 48 hours and at the book store there was (a) run on all the new stuff within the first week, (which) really bodes well for us future-wise. It showed Adidas what our fans are hungry for and capable of" ("Todd Stansbury Podcast,” RAMBLINWRECK.com, 8/29).
