NFL Franchise Notes: Bills GM Wants To Keep Training Camp In Rochester

Bills GM Brandon Beane said that as long as he and coach Sean McDermott are "calling the shots, they are committed to holding training camp on the road" and at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Beane said, "I love it here, it's a great spot. We both believe in it." In Rochester, Leo Roth notes the Bills have three years "remaining on a five-year contract" with the school (ROCHESTER DEMOCRAT & CHRONICLE, 8/16).

THANKS, BUT NO THANKS: In N.Y., Moore & Jaeger reported the Jets "wanted to partner with Blue Lives Matter this season, but the pro-cop group" turned down the team's advances. Blue Lives Matter claimed the NFL "doesn’t respect cops," and criticized the Jets for signing a player, RB Isaiah Crowell, who once "posted an image of an officer’s throat being slashed on social media." Blue Lives Matter Founder Joe Imperatrice indicated that the NFL is "too toxic with player protests over institutional racism." Jets Senior Manager of Premium Partnerships Anthony Bulak "tried to smooth things over by pointing out that no Jet has knelt during the national anthem" (NYPOST.com, 8/15).

PAINTING A STAR: The Cowboys are hosting a number of fan experience events for their training camp practices at The Star in Frisco this month, including an Aug. 23 arts event. The Cowboys and art studio Painting with a Twist hope to draw 100 people for a $35 painting class held at The Star. The Cowboys are also hosting a free yoga class at the complex on Aug. 25. This year, the team split its training camp between Oxnard, Calif., and Frisco (Mike Sunnucks, Staff Writer).
