College Facility Notes: Auburn, Colorado Exploring Naming Rights

In Louisville, Tim Sullivan notes Denver-based entertainment agency Impression Sports & Entertainment is "exploring naming rights possibilities" for athletics facilities at Auburn and Colorado. Impression President Chris Foy said, "We definitely see the college landscape and naming rights changing dramatically." CU athletics Associate AD/External Affairs & CMO Matt Biggers said that the school is "considering adopting corporate names for four of its sports structures, including both football and basketball." Biggers: "We’ve been looking into it for the past few years" (Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL, 8/14).

FALLING BEHIND: In Nashville, Adam Sparks notes Vanderbilt’s football stadium has "not undergone a major renovation" since '81, and since then, every other SEC stadium "has been renovated multiple times, including at least one face lift in the past 12 years." SEC Network's Jordan Rodgers, a former Vanderbilt QB, tweeted: “No surprise here. (Coach Derek) Mason continues to swim upstream (with) an anchor tied to his foot while every other SEC school zooms past him in a speed boat” (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/14).

TIGER-SIZED: In New Orleans, Brody Miller noted the new video board at LSU baseball's Alex Box Stadium "will be the largest in the country." The video board "will be 71.4 feet wide by 37.8 feet high, to give a total square footage of 2,698, just surpassing the new 2,592-square foot video board at Mississippi State's Dudy Noble Field" (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 8/11).
