The statue will be in the north plaza of Globe Life Field, which will open ahead of the '20 seasonrangers

In Dallas, Nathan Han notes the MLB Rangers unveiled the "newest addition" to their under-construction Globe Life Field -- a statue "commemorating the first World Series appearance in franchise history." The statue shows the moment former Rangers P Neftali Feliz "celebrated" with former Rangers C Bengie Molina after winning the ALCS in '10. The statue will be in the "north plaza" of Globe Life Field, which will open ahead of the '20 season (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 8/8).

BREAKING IN THE NEW DIGS: In Milwaukee, James Nelson noted the city's Oktoberfest will be "staged on the plaza in front of Fiserv Forum." The three-day festival will be the "first of what the Bucks promise will be many events on the plaza" outside the main entrance on the east side of the arena. Milwaukee-based events company Swarmm Owner & Event Planner Michael Sampson said that a "more permanent venue" was needed for Oktoberfest, and the Bucks' plaza was an "appealing option" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/7).

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE? In San Diego, Jennifer Van Grove notes the city's "final attempt to boot the dueling stadium proposals" from San Diego State West and SoccerCity "failed" following a ruling from the California appellate court. The ruling "clears the way for the measures to go before voters in November." SDSU West and SoccerCity "both seek to redevelop" the Mission Valley Stadium site with "housing, commercial projects and a public park along the San Diego River" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 8/8).
