FC Cincinnati Aiming For 25,000 Season Tickets In First MLS Season

FC Cincinnati said that it has added 1,000 season ticket accounts since it started accepting depositsFC Cincinnati

USL club FC Cincinnati could "sell as many as 25,000 season tickets" for its inaugural MLS season at Nippert Stadium in '19, according to Chris Wetterich of the CINCINNATI BUSINESS COURIER. FC Cincinnati said that it has "added 1,000 season ticket accounts since it started accepting deposits." Each account has "multiple tickets associated with it," so the total season tickets sold is more than 1,000. In '18, the club "capped season ticket sales" at 18,000 because of "pre-sold multiple-game package and single-game sales." If FC Cincinnati can reach the level of 25,000 season-ticket holders by next year, it will "present an interesting dilemma as it designs and constructs a new West End stadium." Initially, the club said that it would "build a 21,000-seat stadium, but has left open the possibility of constructing a 25,000-seat stadium." Nippert Stadium's capacity for football is "nearly 40,000, leaving room for single-game sales, but those could be constrained in a new stadium with 25,000 seats and nearly that many season ticket holders" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/6). SOCCER AMERICA's Paul Kennedy noted FC Cincinnati "drew 27,426 fans" for Saturday's match against Nashville SC. That figure was "more than all" MLS matches over the weekend except Atlanta United's crowd of 45,191 (SOCCERAMERICA.com, 8/6).
